Weekly Declaration

As believers, we are God’s children. A child of God will reflect His character. Each week, we focus on one scripture while highlighting a declaration (Who God is) and affirmation (Who we are as believers).

This week’s scripture is:

Esau took his wives, his children, and his entire household, along with his livestock and cattle—all the wealth he had acquired in the land of Canaan—and moved away from his brother, Jacob. There was not enough land to support them both because of all the livestock and possessions they had acquired. So Esau (also known as Edom) settled in the hill country of Seir.

Genesis 35:11 NKJV

Declaration

God makes room for His children.

Affirmation

I will not compete with others.

Scarcity is real and it can seriously mess our minds up at times. We question ourselves when we look around and see someone occupying the same space or in similar roles. We start to compare and compete. Yet as God’s children, we are rooted in the truth that our Father makes room for us. There’s no place for comparison and competition. We need only run the race that God has given us to completion.

A Prayer Starter…
Heavenly Father, You are the ultimate provider. You ensure that Your children have everything they need. Lord, thank you for Your provision. When feelings of competition rise within me, help me to recognize them and subdue them with the truth. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

S. Enoch

One must not let comfort lead to dulled awareness, but instead consciously illuminate one’s environment. It urges self-reflection on how one’s personal light can lead others towards embracing Jesus.

The Lord’s Prayer 11 Now Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.” 2 And he said to them, “When you pray, say: “Father, hallowed be your name. Advent Reflections – Even in the Waiting – Day 2

I have been lost a time or two. Usually, because I got distracted and wandered off the intended path. Whatever sparked my interest was enough to cause me to lose sight of my intended destination. In this passage, we find Jesus as a child, so focused on His Father’s business that he wanders off from his parents. In my own life, I’ve found that I’m not prone to wander towards my father’s business….but away from it.
