As believers, we are God’s children. A child of God will reflect His character. Each week, we focus on one scripture while highlighting a declaration (Who God is) and affirmation (Who we are as believers).

This week’s scripture is:

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

Romans 15:13 ESV

Declaration

God moves where hope dwells.

Affirmation

I am in expectation of the power of God to move within my life.

When things get dark or troubling, we pray to God in expectation of His response. We look to Him to turn situations around or make streams in the desert. We believe that God has good plans for us, so we hope and wait patiently for the Lord to move. Two ways to evaluate the presence of hope are peace and joy in the midst of waiting. Our joy is in anticipation of the fulfillment of each and every hope. Our peace is in the assurance that God will fulfill our hopes. When those two things are missing, we’ve built our hope on shaky ground. It’s an opportunity to reassess our flesh and yield ourselves to the Holy Spirit, so that hope may abound!

A Prayer Starter…
Heavenly Father, You are the one and true living God. You are full of abundance and hope. Thank You for empowering me with the gift of the Holy Spirit. Lord, You move where hope dwells and You know every single one of my hopes and desires. Father, Fill me with joy and peace in the waiting season. I wait patiently expecting to see you move within my life. Let your will be done… In Jesus’ name. Amen.

S. Enoch

In His Presence

My mother says, “Old makes way for new” and the cold days of December are no exception. They make way for a fresh new year each January. The days after New Year’s always feel full of potential and anticipation to me. While many people are looking forward to the coming year or accomplishing new goals and resolutions, I take this time to look back. It’s always eye-opening to see how little decisions add up; and how one small shift changes the trajectory of life. I truly believe that taking time to reflect during the month of January re-centers my vision for the year ahead.

The passage illustrates the importance of being a beacon of light in dim, dark places, as guided by Luke 11:33-36. Advent Reflections – Even in the Waiting – Day 4

The Lord’s Prayer 11 Now Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.” 2 And he said to them, “When you pray, say: “Father, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. 3 Give us each day our daily bread, 4 and forgive us our sins, for we ourselves forgive everyone
