“Remember this and stand firm,
Isaiah 46:8-10 ESV
recall it to mind, you transgressors,
9 remember the former things of old;
for I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is none like me,
10 declaring the end from the beginning
and from ancient times things not yet done,
saying, ‘My counsel shall stand,
and I will accomplish all my purpose,’
This past weekend, my family was walking downtown and saw a group of linemen working on the electricity lines. This required them to get in the bucket on their trucks and ride high into the air. As we looked up and watched them work, I thought about the vantage point they have when they look down below. They were able to see more than just us spectators on the street. They could see far off as well. It made me think about how God has a unique vantage point in each of our lives.
God knows all and sees all. He knows our past, present, and future. He’s above all things and has a unique view of where we are in life. So often we come to God petitioning for something and He responds with a question. Just like God questioned Adam and Eve about their location, He already knew exactly what they had done, what they were doing, and how He would redeem humanity.
When God questions you, it’s to offer a different vantage point. He shows you something that you haven’t considered. Something that is to come down the road. Something that you need to be aware of. Don’t despise or disregard the question. It’s the perfect opportunity to deepen your relationship with God.
Today, you have a choice to seek the Kingdom first. I want to encourage you to ponder God’s questions and allow the Holy Spirit to help you discern the answer.
