And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.

Romans 12:1 NLT

When you think of sacrifices in the Bible, where does your mind go? Perhaps it’s some animal or item placed on an altar and set on fire as an offering. Whatever was offered was no longer usable, but when we give our lives to God we are sacrificing ourselves. We are burning up our lives in exchange for His will and eternal life. We are agreeing to live Holy just like Jesus Christ modeled for us. That’s the truest way to demonstrate our worship of God; a life lived Holy. Today, we’re recommitting our ways to the fire in order for the Lord to continue to refine our lives.

Reflect – Are you living each day as a sacrifice to the Lord? In your own words, Pray that God lights your life on fire for Him and Him alone…

Advent Reflections – Even in the Waiting – Day 2

I have been lost a time or two. Usually, because I got distracted and wandered off the intended path. Whatever sparked my interest was enough to cause me to lose sight of my intended destination. In this passage, we find Jesus as a child, so focused on His Father’s business that he wanders off from his parents. In my own life, I’ve found that I’m not prone to wander towards my father’s business….but away from it.
