Then the Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, you are cursed more than all animals, domestic and wild. You will crawl on your belly, groveling in the dust as long as you live. And I will cause hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will strike your head, and you will strike his heel.”
Genesis 3:14-15 NLT
As we continue to reflect on Advent, we must take a moment to think about sin. There would be no need for Jesus’ redemptive mission if not for sin’s destructiveness. When sin entered into the world, it changed the original design for God’s creation. Yet in that moment, God had a plan. A plan of redemption and restoration for His children. Here we see a foreshadowing of Jesus Christ’s arrival to crush the head of the enemy. It’s through Jesus Christ’s sacrifice that we have power to overcome.
Reflect
What ways has sin impacted your life? Are there any sins that you need to repent from? Take a moment and invite the stillness of this season into your heart to pray. How will you move forward with new revelations on God’s plan for redemption and triumph over sin?
