As believers, we are God’s children. A child of God will reflect His character. Each week, we focus on one scripture while highlighting a declaration (Who God is) and affirmation (Who we are as believers).

This week’s scripture is:

It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”

deuteronomy 31:8 esv

Declaration

God goes before you.

Affirmation

I am never abandoned by God.

Take a deep breath and remember that God is with you. He was present for the ups. He was there for the downs. He was with you at the beginning. He will be with you at the end. He is with you right now in this very moment. As you sit on the cusp of a new year, there is no need to fear what is ahead, because our Heavenly Father is already there; dispensing protection, provision, and peace for His children.

A Prayer Starter…
Heavenly Father, You know all things. You go before me and fill my days with your goodness and mercy. Lord, I have no reason to fear the coming season ahead of me because you are with me. Help me to remember your presence when the cares of this world arise… In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Advent Reflections – Even in the Waiting – Day 2

I have been lost a time or two. Usually, because I got distracted and wandered off the intended path. Whatever sparked my interest was enough to cause me to lose sight of my intended destination. In this passage, we find Jesus as a child, so focused on His Father’s business that he wanders off from his parents. In my own life, I’ve found that I’m not prone to wander towards my father’s business….but away from it.
