9 I will say to God, my rock, “Why have you forgotten me? Why must I go about in sorrow because of the enemy’s oppression?” 10 My adversaries taunt me, as if crushing my bones, while all day long they say to me, “Where is your God?” 11 Why, my soul, are you so dejected? Why are you in such turmoil? Put your hope in God, for I will still praise him, my Savior and my God.
PSALM 42:9-11 CSB
There are moments when we feel alone—seasons when we feel like God has forgotten us and doesn’t hear our cries. We are in a state of despair and wondering if we will ever get to the other side of our situation. These moments are the exact times when we have to remember the truth.
God has not forgotten you.
Today, I want to encourage you to command yourself! There are times when your mind or emotions will have you feeling abandoned, but you must command yourself to remember the truth. In the same way that David reminded himself to put his hope in God, we do too. We have to remind ourselves of who God is. We have to remind ourselves to continue to praise Him, even when we feel like we can’t see or hear from him.
Reflect – How will you focus on truth when your mind or emotions cause you to doubt God’s presence?
