Trust in the Lord and do what is good;
dwell in the land and live securely.
Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you your heart’s desires.

PSALM 37:3-4 CSB

We all have cravings-things that we want or wish for. There is nothing wrong with having desires. In fact, it is important to be mindful of our dreams and hopes, as well as our current situation and circumstances. It’s perfectly fine, to be honest with ourselves and God about where we are in life and what we really want in our hearts.

God wants to give you the desires of your heart.

Today, I want to encourage you to take delight! God is not afraid of your deepest desires and moments of honest transparency. As you spend time in God’s word and dwelling in His presence, your mind and heart start to shift. You begin to crave what God craves. You start to recognize that some of your desires are of flesh instead of spirit. As you take delight in God and become transformed, you will begin to see the desires of your heart come to fruition.

Reflect – Take a moment and write down all of your desires. Pray and ask that God exposes the desires that are not of Him.

Advent Reflections – Even in the Waiting – Day 2

I have been lost a time or two. Usually, because I got distracted and wandered off the intended path. Whatever sparked my interest was enough to cause me to lose sight of my intended destination. In this passage, we find Jesus as a child, so focused on His Father’s business that he wanders off from his parents. In my own life, I’ve found that I’m not prone to wander towards my father’s business….but away from it.
