As believers, we are God’s children. A child of God will reflect His character. Each week, we focus on one scripture while highlighting a declaration (Who God is) and affirmation (Who we are as believers).
This week’s scripture is:
7 Do not waste time arguing over godless ideas and old wives’ tales. Instead, train yourself to be godly. 8 “Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come.”
1 Timothy 4:7-8 NLT
Declaration
God blesses the godly.

Affirmation
I devote myself to training for godliness.
There are a million ways that we can spend our days. Yet here, Paul gives Timothy advice that remains relevant in this day and age. He instructs Timothy to ignore things that are worldly because they are a waste of time. In this passage, Paul shares a nugget of wisdom about what truly matters and that is devoting our efforts towards godliness. We should actively demonstrate lives that follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. Our goal is to become more like God in our character, actions, and hearts.
A Prayer Starter…
Heavenly Father, You are holy. There is no one like you. You desire for us to live lives that reflect Your nature out into the world. Lord, we devote ourselves to walking in godliness. Help us to conform to Your image and not the world… In Jesus’ name. Amen.
