And the tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.” 4 But he answered, “It is written,
“‘Man shall not live by bread alone,
Matthew 4:3-4 ESV
but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
As Christians, we have to know how to respond when we’re tempted. Instead of trying to solve our own problems, we should remember the truth about who we serve. In Matthew Chapter 4, Jesus demonstrates how to respond when the enemy comes in questioning us, or creating problems. Jesus responds in truth with truth because He understands the power and nature of God.
God’s Word is provision.
Today, I want to encourage you to live in the Word! Whenever God says something, it is so. We must be mindful to remember the truth about who He is and His nature. When the Lord says that we are protected, then we are. If He says to go in the strength we have, then He is with us. There is provision in the word of God. We just have to hold fast to that truth like Jesus did.
Reflect – Jesus battled with the devil using the scriptures of the Bible. If we were attacked right now, would we be in a position to stand our ground? How well do we memorize/know the Word of God?
