I will meditate on your precepts
and fix my eyes on your ways.
16 I will delight in your statutes;
I will not forget your word.17 Deal bountifully with your servant,
Psalm 119:15-18 ESV
that I may live and keep your word.
18 Open my eyes, that I may behold
wondrous things out of your law.
We will always drift wherever we set our focus. If we set our eyes on our troubles, we see how the odds are stacked against us. If we look at the negative, we will limit the possibility of the turnaround. If we gaze at our flaws, we can suffocate our very own hope. The blessing is that we don’t have to set our eyes on the same things the world does.
God points us to the truth.
Today, I want to encourage you to keep your eyes up! When we meditate on God’s word, we place ourselves in a position to look at Him. Above all else, we focus on the one who gives wisdom and covers us with grace. We orient ourselves to the real truth and unspeakable joy. We find ourselves overflowing with peace and purpose. We find abundance when we set our focus on God and His word.
Reflect – How often do you pause and meditate on the Bible? How can you create space in your life to delight in the word of God?
