A Word for 2023...
EPHESIANS 5:7-11
7 Therefore do not become partners with them; 8 for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 9 (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), 10 and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord. 11 Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.

It's 2023.

A new day. A new year. A new season.

A new opportunity to live an intentional and fruitful life.

Each year, January is filled with resolutions to live differently. We set our sights on increasing the things that fill us with joy and health while decreasing the areas that bring us frustration. But one thing, that we commonly forget is to include God in our plans for the year ahead.

Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.
Proverbs 19:21 ESV

When we fail to seek God’s will for our lives, we set ourselves up for unnecessary obstacles which is why it is very important to yield our plans to the Lord’s purpose.

During the final months of 2022, I began to seek the Lord’s will for 2023. He encouraged me with Ephesians 5.

In 2023, God wants us to walk in the fullness of our new name. We are children of God and our behavior should mark us as such. This year, God is calling us to walk worthy of the name we’ve been gifted. We are charged to display visible fruit (See Galatians 5:22-23) as we navigate our earthly journey. We’re instructed to separate ourselves from evil and discern acts that please God. The beauty is that we have the Holy Bible to demonstrate the character and nature of God. As we meditate and dwell in His word, discernment, withstanding darkness, and bold correction becomes easier.
