Weekly Meditation – Psalms 37:1‭-‬7

God’s word provides clear instruction to His children. As we meditate on His Word, we find exactly what we need to continue our journey through this life. This week, our passage for meditation is Psalms 37:1‭-‬7. Do not fret over those who do evil; do not envy those who do wrong. For they wither quickly like grass and wilt like tender plants. Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell

Perfectionism, Not Required…

God does not require perfectionism.

But, it’s interesting how we allow perfectionism to ruin our time studying the Word of God. We make rules about the environment we have to set. The amount of time that we have to devote to reading and a whole host of other stipulations. We allow being perfect to make us feel inadequate when our study time looks nothing like we envisioned OR we fail to even start because we’re paralyzed.

Deeper Roots – Psalm 42

Psalm 42 shows us the battle that we have with our souls. We know the truth about God. We know that He is holy, righteous, and faithful, yet there are times when we doubt. Seasons when we wonder if God is present and listening to our cries. It’s in those moments when we are tossed around in the storms of life that we have to remind ourselves to trust in the Lord. We have to remind ourselves of God’s character and good plans for us. We have to continue to praise the Lord of our salvation. We have to encourage ourselves to trust in Him.

The Heavens Declare Your Glory…

When we look around today, we still see the intricacies of God’s creations. In each and every plant, animal, and person, the fingerprint of God is visible. We often stand in awe of nature… in awe of God’s creation. It may be a sunrise or sunset. Perhaps standing on a mountain top or with our toes on the beach looking out into the vastness of the ocean. Regardless of the scene, there’s this moment when some realize that we are a small part of something bigger.

What I’ve come to find is that there are some who elevate creation above the creator.

Deliberate Sin…

Reading these verses in Hebrews may spark fear for some, but there is an important lesson to be learned here. If we deliberately sin after we have knowledge of Jesus Christ’s sacrifice, we open ourselves to judgement from God. When we turn our backs on the work of Jesus Christ on the cross, we are no different than people who refuse to believe the gospel. But what’s more, we place ourselves with no other options for salvation or forgiveness. Jesus said that he is the way, the truth, and the light. No one comes to the Father except through him. If we ignore Jesus, we block access to the Father.
